About Us
Jewish Tradition Home Care is dedicated to providing quality care to the Jewish Community. Our caregiver staff is trained to be sensitive to traditional Jewish values,
understanding of holidays and customs, Kosher laws, and traditional cooking and foods.
Well-trained home health aides assist with daily chores and personal care making the difference between feeling alone and helpless or feeling comfortable and secure in familiar surroundings. Our clients range from the frail elderly and Holocaust survivors to recently discharged hospital patients, or to those who simply need social stimulation to avoid depression and ensure psychological well-being.
Neglecting oneself is often the result when meeting the demands of caring for a loved one. We extend support and respite to a caregiver, usually a spouse, to relieve them in order to maintain their health and ability to continue.
Jewish Tradition Home Care provides help in the home, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities or in the hospital. Our staff responds to a multitude of needs, blending expertise and skill with genuine compassion and understanding. Our primary goal is to
enhance the quality of life for our clients, and by doing so give peace of mind to their families.
Members of our in-office staff
speak Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish and German. (Please refer to "Our Team" to meet our office staff.)
Jewish Tradition Home Care is a licensed agency, not a nurse registry. Our aides and certified nursing assistants are employees and are insured with worker's compensation, so
that clients/families will not be liable for accidents that may occur on the job. Furthermore, our Director of Nursing, together with the Plan of Treatment by the client's physician, supervises all caregivers to assure that care is appropriate.
All our Home Health Aides are bonded and insured. Jewish Tradition Home Care is extremely selective in the hiring process. Level 2 fingerprint criminal background history information screening is conducted through the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) as well as the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. (F.D.L.E.) We secure a motor vehicle record on each worker to ensure a safe driving record. We require complete and accurate verification prior to worker employment.
At Jewish Tradition Home Care, we take pride in matching the unique qualities of our caregivers to the individual client's requirements. Our specially trained Staffing Coordinators assign an appropriate Home Health Aide with the necessary skills, suitable experience, and
personality to best meet our client's particular needs.
Our staff retention record is excellent. Some of our home health aides have been with Jewish Tradition Home Care for more than ten years, and many aides have been with us for more than five years. There is virtually no turnover in office staff and the relationship with our clients and their families is ongoing.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?
What type of services can a Home Health Aide provide?
Home Health Aides (HHA) are trained in personal care and body mechanics. They provide assistance with bathing, dressing, ambulation, transferring, range of motion exercises, toileting assistance and incontinence care, feeding and a number of related personal care services. They can also provide general household tasks such as shopping, meal preparation, laundry, changing bed linens, light housekeeping, running errands and taking a client to the doctor or on other outings such as social events .
What if I have private Home Health or Long Term Care Insurance?
During the intake process, you will be asked if there is a long term care insurance policy in effect. Our Insurance Billing Coordinator will contact the insurance company to verify available benefits. When you give us the authority to bill the insurance company we will complete all paperwork for you. If you have a policy and are unsure of the coverage for home health care, we will be pleased to inquire on your behalf. Jewish Tradition Home Care is on the preferred provider list of the majority of Long Term Care Insurance Companies and works closely with insurance providers.
What is the difference between a Home Health Agency
and a Nurse Registry?
Jewish Tradition Home Care is licensed as a Home Health Agency by the state of Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration. Our aides are employees and are insured with worker's compensation. As the employer, we pay our share of Social Security Tax, the
employee's withholding taxes and unemployment taxes. Our employee aides are supervised by a Registered Nurse and our staff communicates with the client's physician to assure that the prescribed Plan of Care is in effect.
A Nurse Registry provides independent contractors to perform home health care services. Because these aides are not employees, the registry does not provide worker's compensation or liability insurance. The necessary payment of taxes is the responsibility
of the employer or independent contractor. The registry license does not require supervision of the independent contractor aide by a registered nurse. You can visit the IRS website
www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id+99921,00.html for further clarification of your responsibilities.
What is the difference between a Home Health Agency
and a Companion Service?
Jewish Tradition Home Care has a Home Health Agency license that allows our aides to perform "activities of daily living", such as bathing, dressing, help with ambulation, toileting and feeding. A companion service is not licensed to provide any of these activities of daily living. No personal care is permitted.
